Bourbon Brûlée Pumpkin Pie Recipe

  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for brûlée topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla extract, spices, and salt.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream until smooth.
  6. Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 45 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  8. Let cool, then sprinkle sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to brûlée the sugar until caramelized.

Notes

  • This pie is best served chilled after an overnight rest in the refrigerator.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, you can omit the bourbon.
